Privacy policy

Last updated: 30 September 2026

Tillbird is a customer support chat widget I (Lev Manzhai, a sole trader based in the UK) build and run for online stores. This policy covers what happens to your information when you chat with a Tillbird widget — whether that's on the demo on this site, or on a client store's website.

Who's responsible for your data

Lev Manzhai, trading as Tillbird. Contact: [email protected]. For a specific store's widget, that store is also involved as the business you're actually buying from — this widget is provided to them as a tool for their support, under a separate agreement between me and them.

What the widget collects

The widget never asks for a password, payment details, or your full address, and doesn't have access to a store's checkout or payment systems.

What I use it for

To operate the chat (answer your question, look up an order if asked), to keep the service secure and prevent abuse, and to review and improve how the assistant answers — for example, spotting questions it handled badly. I don't use it for advertising, and I don't sell it.

How long it's kept

Right now, conversations are kept so I can review and improve the service — there isn't yet an automatic deletion schedule. If you'd like a specific conversation deleted, email me and I'll remove it.

Who else sees it

A few companies process data on my behalf, only as needed to run the service: Anthropic generates the assistant's replies from your messages — its terms say it doesn't train models on this data (see Anthropic's privacy policy). Hetzner hosts the app on servers in Germany. Google Workspace sends emails — handoff notifications and demo-request replies. All three are acting as service providers under their own data protection terms. Nothing here is sold or shared for advertising.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to see what's held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how it's used. Email [email protected] and I'll sort it out directly — there's no support queue, it's just me. If you're not happy with how that's handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Cookies

The widget doesn't set cookies. It uses your browser's local storage to remember your conversation (a session ID and recent messages, per store) so the chat still works if you reload the page or come back later, which is strictly necessary for the chat to function. This clears automatically after 24 hours of inactivity, or any time you use "Start new chat".

Changes to this policy

If this changes, I'll update the date at the top of this page.
